Accepted name: |
dipeptidyl-peptidase III |
Reaction: |
Release of an N-terminal dipeptide from a peptide comprising four or more residues, with broad specificity. Also acts on dipeptidyl 2-naphthylamides. |
Other name(s): |
dipeptidyl aminopeptidase III; dipeptidyl arylamidase III; enkephalinase B; red cell angiotensinase |
Comments: |
A cytosolic peptidase that is active at neutral pH. It has broad activity on peptides, although it is highly selective for Arg-Arg-2-naphthylamide, at pH 9.2. Active in the hydrolysis of enkephalins. A metallopeptidase, the type example of peptidase family M49. |
