4.1.2.64 |
Accepted name: |
2-dehydro-3-deoxy-L-fuconate aldolase |
Reaction: |
2-dehydro-3-deoxy-L-fuconate = pyruvate + (S)-lactaldehyde |
Other name(s): |
2-keto-3-deoxy-L-fuconate aldolase; L-2-keto-3-deoxyfuconate aldolase; fucH (gene name) |
Systematic name: |
2-dehydro-3-deoxy-L-fuconate (S)-lactaldehyde-lyase (pyruvate-forming) |
Comments: |
The enzyme, characterized from the bacteria Veillonella ratti and Campylobacter jejuni, participates in an L-fucose degradation pathway. It also has significant activity with 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-pentonate (cf. EC 4.1.2.28, 2-dehydro-3-deoxy-D-pentonate aldolase). |
